Abeshas & Love

During the month of February, Taitu entertainment club decided to dedicate their monthly poetry night to the topic of "Abesha love" and I (Wegesha) was also invited to write something on the topic. I suspect they were hoping for something uplifting but as far as I can tell, from the way they chased me out of Washington D.C, I don't think they got the lift they hoped for. Well, well...

4 - Wegesha,
So young, yet so cynical!. Great poem though.
Speaking of cynisism, this is how that great cynic Ambrose Bierce defined love a hundred years ago: " A temporary insanity curable by marriage..... This disease is prevalent only among civilized races living under artificial conditions; barbarous nations breathing pure air and eating simple food enjoy immunity from its ravages. It is sometimes fatal, but more frequently to the physician than to the patient". So beware Wegesha! (Comment this)

5 - Gissu,
You forgot to mention how Ambrose defined a cynic. A very understandable and minor oversight.

CYNIC, n. A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be. Hence the custom among the Scythians of plucking out a cynic's eyes to improve his vision. (Comment this)

9 - I found your poem easy to read, yet very complex. How long have you been writing poems ? Have you published your work somewhere ? (Comment this)

10 - gissu, I think the definition isn't actual any more. I'd say "love is a temporary insanity curable by ... sex". Look at the statistics, love which leads to marriage also leads to marriage problems than to divorce. Marriage is not a cure. Same insanity gets chronicle, that's all. (Comment this)
