1 - Ha, ha! I''m a big fan of overheardinnewyork And I''m a big fan of the city itself, except I am now at the verge of being convinced that Ethiopians don''t hang out in the city (well, other than at church, which I unforunately don''t go to) . So question to you nyc-er(s) - how does one find out about Ethio events in the city? I am not a student anymore, so I don''t have that school connection. It seems like EthioNYC is pretty much dead. Is there another mailing list? How do people keep track of upcoming events? (Comment this)
2 - as you have pointed out, the church seems to be the one place where everyone comes together. As usual, the church has split into three different factions so even that has lost its appeal to find abesha people. There is the "abesha happy hour" event every two weeks on Thursdays. It is a good start to find out about other events. If you are not on the email list, send us your email address (yekolotemari@gmail.com) and we will forward your email address to the powers that be so you will receive email updates about the abesha happy hour event which takes place at a different lounge every time.
